One of my goals for 2014 is to sew a bit more for my son. He always appreciates me taking time to make him things and truthfully as he's getting bigger and outgrowing kids stores all while not really growing into adult stores or styles its becoming a bit more necessary. Believe it or not he already has two pairs of fleece one piece onesie style jamies but they are all he will wear no matter how dirty they are so with all our lounging around the house days he needed one more pair at last.
M6475 and fleece from my stash. I'm not sure why I had the pattern I must have felt compelled to buy it during one of the many patterns sales at JoAnns. Its not a great pattern but its not bad either it just sort of is what it is I guess. The instructions for the pockets were not very good and mine ended up uneven so at that point I gave up on the instructions and just did what I wanted. The fit is good though. I cut him an adult xs. He is almost 5ft 4in but very skinny and they fit well. I did add wide elastic to the sleeve and leg cuffs since they were both just a touch long but the way he's been growing there was no way I was actually going to shorten anything.

Let's see where to begin. My one project at a time rule is going well at least in terms of not feeling so overwhelmed despite the fact that we have been quite busy and some of my other goals have kept me from my sewing room a good bit so far this year. Its also lead to my finishing some things well before they are really needed.

After our first round of snow days Feb 10th ended up being our 100th day of school this year. I did not sew anything but I did fancy up a ready to wear tee shirt with my silhouette and 100 sparkles using my hotfix applicator.

I was initially drawn to this pattern because of the pockets and they do not disappoint. It took me a bit to figure out the construction directions but once I did they made perfect since. Honestly, if I had read them to begin with instead of just looking at the pictures I would have probably gotten it much faster.
Generally I like this pattern and plan to make it again. The only thing I don't love is that even though I sized up it doesn't really meet in the middle. I don't think its meant to but since I have a larger chest this means the sweater often falls to the outside of the girls. On a side not looking at some of the pictures I think I should start tucking sometimes. I'm realizing that the pants are making my stomach and hips look bigger then they are and lets be honest here I certainly don't want that.
On a stash diet note I used most of a 3 yard piece of fabric for this. I've also made myself a brown top but haven't worn or photographed it just yet.
