Easter 2015

Some time this spring I took Emily to Elegant Stitches, my really great local sewing shop, with me.  I'm not sure why I took her since I usually don't but all of a sudden she was walking up to me carrying a bolt of quilters cotton that she wanted a dress made out of.  While its pretty its not something I ever would have picked but she loved the print so we picked out a coordinate and bought enough fabric to make a dress.
Here is a closeup of the print.  I also decided that she just had to have one bow as big as her head while she's still little enough to pull it off.
Here is our current favorite new way to demonstrate twirl factor.
Finally one where you can see the dress.  This is the Oliver and S Garden Party Dress.  This pattern was a bit of a mixed bag.  If I make it again I will not put the waist band on the back as mine did not line up well at the end of the project.  I will also follow the directions for the arm binding instead of getting creative and ending up with and exposed seam under each arm.  Oh well its super cute and I think it bridges the little girl big girl gap nicely at the moment.
Her are both kids together.  Elijah is wear an Old Navy shirt and Target shorts.  He's also super thrilled to be having his pictures taken.

Dress Swap 2015

I know I know life has been full and let's just say the end of this school year cannot come fast enough.  I actually have been sewing a good bit but the whole photo taking and thing hasn't been happening so much.  I'll try to go back and post some things and maybe just tell you about some things that I don't have pics of.  I really hate taking modeling pics of things for myself but have found some patterns I like.

I decided to participate in the spring dress swap on sewing mamas.  Here are some instagrams of the dresses I made.
This is a size 10 pattern mash up but the top is based on my current favorite pattern Jallie 3352  seriously if you don't have it buy it now and if you have it but haven't made it this one should be your next project.  I've made 3 for me, 1 for Emily, and this version for the swap.  Its super easy and I think it looks nice on.

Emily really wanted to keep this one for herself but I sent it on anyways.  Its based on the dress pattern from this book.  I don't love or hate the book.  I don't really use it much though.  I really prefer buying patterns more then drafting them myself.

These are the two I received.  She loves both.
Thanks for stopping by.

Bits of 2014

So truth time.  I just haven't felt like blogging lately.  I did a good amount of knitting for Christmas that I didn't even get pictures of.  I also made a shirt so bad that I never took pictures.  OH and I have another shirt sitting upstairs waiting to have the strings clipped.  All that said here are a few not so great pictures of completed projects.
This is actually the first thing I made from the tween pattern parcel.  It is from Everything your Mama Made and More.  I love the pattern.  Loved it so much I bought a few more of hers.  Sadly one of those is the one that needs some serous help to work for me.  None the less this one was well drafted and her directions are great.  They are simple patterns but simple seems to be good as the little girl gets bigger.
These are the pants from Gertie Sews Vintage Casual.  Its a lovely book and these are comfy.  The fit isn't quite right and I'm not thrilled with the butt zipper but I may give them another go and would love to make more from her book.  On a side note Emily now wants pink hair just like Gertie has in the book.
Emily and I made this together.  I'd been using a wreath my MIL gave us bc she didn't care for it for years and decided it was time for something I actually liked.  I followed the directions from this pin.  It took a bit of time but was super easy.
Here she is helping.

I have a bunch of instagrams too but at the moment I can't seem to get them liberated.  Hope you like this little bit of stuff.
